CSR ACTIVITY DAY 3
It is really amazing for a company accepting to give back to society it operate in.
My Group went to meet with MEDDY PHARMACY manager which is also the owner. We explain what is CRS and also the importance of CSR for his business. We were really convincing about the activity we wish he should jump in and so fortunate for Shagary Primary School that would be the one benefiting from it.
Since we already have a place in mind and what to do, the manger of MEEDY decided to go visit the place.
the activity was to clean an existing well that being abandoned due one reason and the other such as lack of maintenance and so one, clear the surrounding, remove the dirt from inside, plastering its surrounding, getting a led for it and make the water potable for pupils.
the director of MEDDY was also touched when he saw the place but he is only willing to give N40 000, and promised to sponsor the following week.
Initially the budget was N85000 to complete the project. We then decided to look for another company to support the project. unfortunately it did not work out with Binany Suit which the company that really gave my group hope to finalize and let us down up to the point the manger was not even answering our calls.

CSR ACTIVITY DAY 2 ( 15 - 11 2012)
lucky for my group members and I and also MEDDY PHARMACY  that is willing to carry out CSR activity in other to compensate the community for the privilege the company is being given for the operation of their business in their environment.
3 years ago the owner of the pharmacy Dr Hafiz was a National Youth Copper in Federal Medical Center, Yola.  He was later employed as a permanent staff. Dr Hafiz then decided to open his own pharmacy in other to offer good medication and better service even outside his job.
At the end of our presentation for the benefit of CSR for his business Dr Hafiz gentle said "wow! this is really amazing." he then said he was planning to give back to community for the smooth success of his business supported by Yola community by next year. But he is really interested to do it now.

Decision after meeting with my group members of CSR activity

We have two more organizations in mind in which we will go and explain the importance of CSR for their company tomorrow, Meddy Pharmacy and  Con oil feeling station. If necessary we will go to visit more until we get at least one who is interested to offer something willingly to the community.
Meeting in Progress
Ideas are welcome on how to convince an organization to engage in CSR activities.

Reason for  the existence of my blog

As earlier mention in my first post i am a student in American university of Nigeria. moreover the main purpose of this blog is to keep posting ethical issues not only in Nigerian context but world wide. At the end, this would determine my score for the course i am enrolling currently.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility is in the Green Paper, the first comprehensive document about CSR, defined as „a concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental tasks into their business activities and relationships with stakeholders
on a voluntary basis.
" But this is not the only one definition of CSR. A certain freedom is the point by which CSR can be implemented. The idea is that companies behave more responsibly than it is stated by legislative regulations. They go further –
beyond economic and legal regulations. This additional aspect is identified as an aspect of corporate social performance. The companies pay attention and invest more in human capital, relations with stakeholders and the environment. This interest
which is "in addition" may have a positive impact on increasing productivity and competitiveness, improving the image of the company including making a higher profit. The CSR should reflect a branch, location of the company, its subject and, of course, all kinds of stakeholders who can influence the company or who are influenced by the company.
